Mattress Size Guide

Mattresses come in standard sizing. The following chart shows how wide and long each mattress size is. Choosing the right size bed will ensure that your feet do not dangle off the mattress and that you can have enough space to shift around while you sleep.

When purchasing a new bed, make sure you have plenty of extra space so that you do not fall off the bed. Also, make sure that the bed will fit into the room that you wish to put it. You do not want a bed that is too large or else it will take up all the space in the bedroom.

The following mattress size chart is in inches.

Size Width Height
Twin 39 74
Twin XL 39 80
Full 54 74
Queen 60 80
King 76 80
California King 72 84

Notice that a queen is only six inches wider and six inches longer than a full sized mattress. Also, note that a California king in longer than a regular king sized mattress, but is actually more narrow than a king.

Also, be sure to remember that sizes do sometimes vary by manufacturer. The above is the standard size for all mattresses, but there is no law that says a Queen sized Mattress must be 60x80 inches.

Also, you must realize that the above is the mattress dimensions. Bed sheets, comforters and other aspects of the bedding vary in sizes. Not all queen sized comforters are actually the same size. It all depends on the style and the manufacturer. Be sure to see to check the dimensions before buying any new bedding.
